Understanding Your Leather Upholstery
Leathers are not all the same. The way they have been finished alters how they feel, the absorbency rate of soiling, colourfastness and at times the need for different care products. Leather is a natural material with pores and hair follicles, similar to our own skin. All leathers are artificially coloured and while a pigmented, top coated leather is less porous than a pure aniline or nubuck, they are all still porous allowing the leather to breathe for your comfort. Leather will absorb soiling which, if not removed regularly will cause premature wear and discolouration. If you are on regular medication this can affect the finish of your leather. Perspiration - from hair, arms and legs on areas of contact can cause colour destabilisation or loss, leading to breakdown of the leather & causing a repair which may have been avoidable with a little extra attention when cleaning. Thinking about wear and examining your furniture while cleaning can help prevent small problems becoming large ones.
All Pellé products are non-toxic and safe for use on everyday household and personal clothing items, with some products containing anti-fungal and anti-microbial agents for you and your families’ protection.
All Pellè products are biodegradable and safe for disposal in public water systems. All packaging is recyclable and we are continually seeking new ways to minimise the packaging requirements of our products.

Fabric
Different fabrics will have specific care and cleaning requirements. Please note the fibre content and guarantee from the fabric manufacturer before cleaning at home.
Wood
Finishes are generally lacquered or oiled. Confirm the finish on your furniture before cleaning and polishing.
O'Connell Furniture Specialists recommend the use of Mirotone Sprayglow products for cleaning/polishing lacquer or oiled finish furniture.
Teak wax is ideal to improve an oiled finish piece.
